Brake fluid leak from/near master..next step?

A week ago, my brake fluid light came on and I noticed the drippings under the car. I never witnessed the dripping, but after my daily commute, it continued to appear. I topped of the res. to keep things in check before I got the time to do a more thorough investigation.
Specs: '91 turbo, vert, 87K, auto tranny
I spent a good bit of time poring over my Bentley's and searching the postings here for pics and advise before this post, but can't find a conclusive answer. I finally found the vicinity of the leak which appears to be from under the master. There is a plastic sheethed cylinder as part of the apparatus on the lower left side when looking at the car from the front and this is where I've found the fluid. Underneath this sheethed cylinder. Pressure is still good and braking performance has not changed. I'm presuming a seal is gone, but if I could get more specific info and thoughts on the origin, course of action and potential cost in time and $$$, it would be much appreciated.
