Good the battery did the trick.
Re rough idle and possible rich mixture, I would suspect the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum hose and see if any fuel spills out or there is a strong odor of fuel, or it doesn't hold vacuum or pressure. I'm not afraid of blowing/sucking on the hose, but if you hit a bad leaker, you might get a bit of gas in your mouth.
I would also check your throttle position switch...make sure it clicks just off idle. Clean out your throttle body and butterfly with carb spray. Do the same with the AIC idle control valve.
Finally, if you're sure the AMM is good, I'd next suspect the O2 sensor. If still no luck, the fuel pump relay (above the ECU in passenger sidefootwell might be bad. Finally the ECU might be bad. They don't like to run on marginal voltage levels. Should be able to find a used to swap in.
