I have never heard an explanation to why Saab changed the design in 92 from having the ridgid plastic flange behind trowout bearing to the spring loaded rubber boot.
It sure made it a whole lot more difficult to remove and install and also required a complete new special tool when doing the clutch job.
If the rubber boot and spring give you grief, you can still use the plastic flange from an old slave cylinder and install it on the new slave.
