For a non-turbo, the 4 quick flashes is a signal from the EZK ignition system. The system is retarding spark timing in response to knocking, but it's not reducing the knock. This action doesn't store a fault code in the LH 2.4 ECU. Often it's the knock-sensor picking up RF interference from old spark plug wires that need to be replaced. Use genuine Bougicords since they seem to be better shielded.
Other than that, you can check fault codes to see if anything else is stored. Then I'd clear them, wait awhile, & check codes again.
