I saw one of my old posts being linked over in that other thread...
Mine broke, basically it quit running. Speedometer was fine, only the odometer stopped counting. I decided to take it apart because it was a nice day to sit outside & tinker with it. Besides, I've taken cameras apart so this didn't seem too intimidating.
When I got to the odometer package of gears & wheels, I found one gear near the input end of the train, had started spinning free on it's shaft. It was supposed to be pressed on. Then it was a simple matter of gently squeezing it to reduce the center bore diameter. Then I probably used some epoxy to put it back on it's shaft. All good!
I've seen many people who take them out & find one of those gears actually split apart. I would have probably NOT fixed it if I had found that in mine.
