but if you ARE in the Metro area get ready because ALL the emissions limits have been lowered AGAIN and ARE retrospectively applied albeit on a sliding scale...I've had years of fighting and fighting to keep my 85 900T street legal...it's a MAJOR PITA...I've had many threads on this subject. The "explainations" are always the same...NOx is high so you need a Cat/02 Sensor/AMM/AIC/Head gasket/valve job/ignition overhaul...etc etc etc...often NONE of which you really need. (BTW you can each your lunch off my engine and the car never does less than 27mpg and you are welcome to breath my exhaust...you will not die I promise)

Basically NY is legislating older cars off the road...my car only just fails each time and this year I am on a waiver....waiting for my car to be 25 then it's just the safety which will never be an issue. But wait there is more...if your car is 1996 and newer, the new game in town is a check engine light automatic fail scam. I cannot tell you how many people I know who have been relieved of $hundreds to diagnose this sensor or that code all on cars that were running perfectly...but once the computer throws a code...get ready to bend over because you cannot pass until the OBD2 system checks out and all the bells and whistles work perfectly....what a crock, what a scam...state sponsored motor trade rip-off of the new century! Why am I so angry?...well have you followed a school bus and been able to breath recently?
