Two filament bulbs have two contacts on the base. Single filament bulbs have one. When you put in a single filament bulb, you wired the parking lights to the brake light circuit. So all the bulbs come on dimly.
The APC will go to base boost if you are applying the brakes as a safety measure. It senses braking by measuring the voltage on the brake lights. If it's near 12 volts, it assumes you're pressing the brake pedal, and sets base boost.
By using the wrong bulbs, you are making a bunch of cross-connections. No wonder it gets messed up.
