IF the transmission is good, then it's a good price. Have you taken it for a test drive? If it shifts through the gears fine, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Check the transmission fluid level, engine running and warmed up. If it smells burnt, walk away.
The "wet" area may be tranny fluid. This should have a lower radiator hose transmission cooler, that wetness may be from a bad hose, they do tend to leak after a while. Also check to see if the skid plate is not smashed up against the bottom of the transmission pan. The pan is aluminum so the skid plate has been known to either punch a hole in the pan or wear a hole through it too. (ask me how I know this!)
There are a whole host of other things to check for too...bad head gasket, hidden rust in suspension areas, bad rack...
