...recommended is 16 BTDC. However, the stock advance unit does not retard enough under boost. I may not have the numbers exactly right, but under full boost you need to be at about 10 BTDC. There is a modification to the unit that permits enough retard, allowing you to push base timing to 20 BTDC. This gives you better low end torque and faster turbo spool up.
Ask on the performance bord and direct your question to Jak Stoll. He's a master at this. Made a great improvement in my car
