This evening there is no noise. That is the issue. It is infrequent and difficult for me to describe. I had my battery and alternator tested this evening. They were fine. My alternator belts look worn. Based on my recollection, it is not a belt squealing sound. It seems as though it is a slipping sound (as opposed to the standard start up sound). I plan on keeping this SAAB and it has 220K on it, so if I replace several items myself it probably would be good. I just think the crank pulley/harmonic balance (right term?) is out of my league.
