I doubt a plumber's plunger will give you enough suction to work but there are pulling cups meant for that. You could remove the trim strip; it's stuck on with sponge-rubber 3M trim tape the remains of which would need to be removed too; be aware there are several holes in the panel in behind it.
I don't have a hatchback nearby to look at but I think that inner panel should come out without many problems; tilt rear seat bottom all the way forward first. (And maybe, remove seat back too?)
Make sure if you push not to dent it - - NO POUNDING, no hammers. Maybe just your flat palms pushing, maybe slip a scrap of plywood or chipboard in there to push against so it spreads the pushing over the entire dented area. (Then push with, say, your feet.)
A kindly body shop worker might give you some tips if it's plain you aren't going to hire them to do it.
