I get lots of great info from reading everyone-else's posts (this site sucks up WAY too much of my time - and thats just reading, not posting) and now I have an idea some of you may benefit from. My brothers 91' 900T blew its AC safety valve...we did'nt know this untill we cut the hose off of an OLD (w/brass fitting - plastic type prob. won't work - read on)134a
recharge can (the "all in one" shaving cream dispenser can). I unscrewed the core of the brass head & removed the rubber ball that served as an anti-return valve, put the core back & presto - instant vaccum attachment for my mity-vac brake bleeder ($40 at pep boys). I even used the plastic hose connector where the hose met the can to connect the modded attachment to a long piece of STURDY vac. hose. I was able to apply 25lbs of vaccum to the system (after plugging the blown relief valve). So...neat idea or what? I don't know if this comes close to what a prof. AC evac. would do - but I'll bet any given recharge will be lots more effective w/more referigant (& less air) in the system!

On to my question - I've found a nice 83'900T w/82k mi on the odo. The fellow selling the car is an old master tech & wants $2000. Here's the problem: The spedo reads to 85mph & I thought turbos came w/125mph spedos...additionally - in the hatch I found an older gauge cluster (the gas & temp gauge were an older style & the word "turbo" had an turbine where the "o" would be.)----with the spedo MISSING. Very suspucious eh?!
The guy seems nice & denies switching the spedo - but he's a master tech & could prob. do the switcharoo in 5min. He said he had the cluster for the light bulbs, & it came w/o the spedo. I don't know if car fax would shed any light on things or not - but I thought I'd try here first.
Terribly sorry about the mega long-post. Thanks!!!!!!
