hey guys:
wanted to toss this out there, and see if anyone had any ideas. my '89 900T has developed a blue smoke habit when started after sitting overnight or so. it has been coming and going - sometimes it didn't happen at all, seemed to be better if i was really religious about idling for 20-30 seconds before shutting down. this morning, it was a FIERCE cloud of blue smoke as i was backing out of my driveway, although there is no noticeable difference in how the car drives - still boosts as strong as ever. how can i tell if my seals are shot in my turbo....and how difficult is it to rebuild or replace it? my mechanic once told me that if the turbo goes, the car's shot....but i think he's thinking more of the cost of repairing it exceeding the cost of the car. but then again, who on this board HASN'T spent more than the original cost in upkeep? :-D anyway, just wondering if there was a way to tell for sure that it's the turbo, and what kind of $$$ hit i can expect in the near future.
thanks!
