With poly, you'll feel the ridges on the bumps of the bumps. More precise hadling, but harsh.
OEM will be the way to go in that respect. If you're getting a lot of swaying around the center axis of the car, you probably have a bad Panhard rod bushing but, like you mentioned, you want to inspect the others and check the ball joints.
