Not positive, but it does sound like the HVAC canister could be bad. If the canister is shot, I could see how boost could get to the cabin that way. Do the vents all work properly while boosting?
I have had a canister valve fail (didn't hold vacuum). Pain in the butt to replace because it is a really tight fit getting it in/out.
