I'm almost positive you can use an alternator from any 9000, up to and including 1998. You need to make sure though that it is not a V6 alternator as those were different. I had an '85 900T and I can tell you that the only differences are the pulleys, the '85 doesnt use a serpentine belt so you have to switch the pulleys. I even used my '85 voltage regulator in my 9000 for a few months. I picked up a used 115 amp 9000 alternator on ebay for $30 shipped.
