"New" rear bumper.

I love a good junk yard find! While vising the local yard I spotted an 86 in very good condition. Lots of good used parts to be had. What especially caught my eye was a rear bumper in fantastic shape. I made sure to check it out in detail since there's always a mystery flaw despite the appearance. I could see none! I've been in need of a good used rear bumper for some time now and I couldn't believe my good fortune. $30 later and it was mine. I was so excited I decided to replace it out in the street where I was parked just across from the yard. Also avoided the extra trip to scrap the old one.
My first surprise with the 86 bumper was that the four main bolts which attach the bumper to the car were shorter than that on my 82. Reason is that the 86 bumper sits closer to the car. So I decided to swap out the interior metal bracing, which includes the attaching bolts, something I've done before. At that point I realized I could have saved some money by purchasing just the outer rubber cover. With both bumpers apart, I realized that the interior plastic baffles in the new bumper were crumbling to the touch. Something caused them to harden and crack, unlike the original bumper interior which was still in good shape. So I swapped out the interior as well. I basically ended up replacing just the outer shell and kept the rest of the original. It was still worth it to now have an unblemished rear bumper/workbench/tool shelf/seat/diving platform.
