What year is the car and what type of transmission, stick or auto?
If 87 and older it could be the front brake pads locking up if not adjusted properly at last pad change.
If auto transmission it could that the differential has locked up due to that at the last oil change at the quickilube they drained the differential of oil and just filled more into the engine, effectively seizing the differential bearings.
If stick shift, it could be the pinion bearings and ring and pinion that have seized up due to age and wear.
