i had a major oil leak a week ago in my 91 900tc. we all thought it came from the oil filter housing, but it came from the oil pump seal. i had the oil pump seal replaced less than 4,000 miles ago. the mechanic also found that the crankcase pulley was broken which caused the oil pump seal to fail. he said he has never seen a broken crankcase pulley before. he mentioned that the prior mechanic forgot to put back the spacer which goes on the crankcase pulley. he said the prior mechanic tightened the bolt so tight to make up for the missing spacer. he said i was rubbing metal on metal. he said i was lucky that i did not seize my engine. its so hard to find a good saab mechanic these days. this prior mechanic told me that he was a master saab mechanic.
