Me too...this has been a perennial problem on my 85 900T...look for vacuum leaks first, too much air, not enough fuel. Check hooter valve holds vacuum,(disconect and suck...make sure it holds suction). Then it's on to AIC...does your idle go up and down? Could be the AMM too...mine was fried long ago I suspect, but it works well enough and my car flies once warm and returns 28mpg so it can't be that bad, but AMMs can degrade over time.
