...is leverage. If you move the rack, you still might not be able to place a 3 foot persuader in there unless you are on tall ramps or a lift. I suggest an over under. Put the car up on ramps, and have a second person lay under the car to hold the socket in place and replace it every time it falls off while you straddle the engine. Pulling the rack seems interesting. Please post if it makes the job easier, and if it is worth the extra struggle.

When you think about the time you will invest fiddling with the tight spaces there, and given your superior knowledge of Saabs, might it not be easier to pull the engine, do the swap, and replace the engine. I just pulled an engine in 2 hours and swapped it into another 2 and a half ( I used power, of course). I pale in comparison to your experience, so I bet you could do it in half the time.

Now that I have openned up my mouth though, I bet I will have a crank failure too.
