I just did my headliner on my 88 SPG. I'm sure glad I did it because the shops that I asked wanted at least $400. Yes, Jeff and Royce's site is very good.
The spray adhesive that you need to use is 3M Super Trim Adhesive. I believe that some people have used the regular 3M Trim Adhesive, but I want the strongest bond. I found the Super Trim Adhesive in a local auto parts store, but they wanted $18 per can. However, I found it for only $10 a can on the internet. Some people have said that you will need 4-5 cans. Well, I bought 4 cans and I only used 2.
I think the other key to keeping the headliner up over the long run is to reduce the heat penetrating through the roof and boiling the headliner glue. What I did was take a couple of reflective windshield heat screens, cut them up, and tape them with aluminum tape to the underside of the roof areas. This really helps keep the interior cool.
I live in Hayward. If you need help, you can come on down and I can show you what to do. babella at sbcglobal dot net
