Should do ok as long as you service the cooling system Posted by RS [Email] (#15) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RS) on Tue, 4 Oct 2005 20:24:59 In Reply to: Older Saabs in Fla, fiona, Tue, 4 Oct 2005 20:11:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I live in Hotlanta, and have a black SPG. It's not quite Florida heat, but it's a lot closer to it than Boston usually is.
If you haven't done it yet, you might want to consider replacing all of the coolant hoses (especially the upper rad hoses) and either flush or replace the radiator. I had an upper rad hose develop an aneurism and blow out on the road south of nowhere. It wasn't pretty. Make sure that the thermostat is new and that it and the radiator fan switch are 82 deg C units. Use Mercedes or Zerex G05 coolant instead of the green stuff.
A/C is kind of weak on a lot of C900s, so keep that in consideration. But I've been running my SPG w/o A/C for the last 3 or so years. You get used to it after a while.
The one thing I've seen in a lot of coastal Florida cars is that they get rust in strange places fromt he salt spray. If you go costal, you'll want to wash it on top, underneath, and under the hood a LOT.
