Jim,
Thanks for the post. I went over the car again today. Its mine at 11 am tomorrow. And its only three blocks away from me. I promised them I would drive by sometimes and toot the horn. They are both teachers with two young kids and really appreciate swedish safety design. I have two kids a little bit older myself. my wife takes them around in a new VW sedan. I might look for a last year 9000 too later on. I would like to get one of those for my mom. She is looking for a good five door with right around 60K. The last year 9K car might be good for her.
I asked again about the hatch today. They had it closed properly today. He told me the latch was replaced by the dealer some years ago. And it is fine now. Said it wouldnt open one day so they took it in and had the part swapped no doubt. GM/SAAB mechanics doing the best they can to swap parts. I think it might be in need of proper greasing all around. The hatch hinges are a little tight. And it could be the tray or the jack in the back. Dont ya just love plain, simple logic? So the good news is I have a free, newer hatchlatch. All the rubber looks good, just in need of a little conditioning.
There may be a tiny gap in rear window on the same side as the rattle coming from the hatch. Perhaps the lock on the driver rear window needs a little looking after as well.
Looks like lots of little things to keep me busy. Today i took the covers off the bosch fog torches. They have never been used. What a car.
Namaste,
Jason
