Quarter panel drains....

should be where all that water is going. The are on the underside of the body in front of the rear wheels. These may be the ones you are talking about. Just make sure they are clear (pull off the rubber nipples and check..then put them back on).
These cars unfortunately at this age spring leaks in lots of places...even the hatchbacks do. Main thing to do is to check all drains for blockages.
- A/C condensor drain (in right front wheel well)
- Door drains (small slits under the rubber weatherstripping on each door, one towards the front of the door, one towards the back)
- Body drains (on underside of car, one large rubber drain towards front, one smaller one towards back, two on each side of car)
- quarter panel drains (see above)
With all these clean you should be OK in this rain. I have a conv. too and I "think" that I finally solved my interior leak last week...just in time for monsoon season here. I've had the carpets out 3 times over the last couple of years searching for the leak, thinking each time I had it. Chasing leaks is painstaking and frustrating.
