pass. side possible engine-in... Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Sun, 16 Oct 2005 08:20:33 In Reply to: Upper A arm bushings, whitesaab, Sun, 16 Oct 2005 07:59:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
but unless drivers side bushings are shot, i'd leave them til the engine has to come out for another reason.
the hardest part once the a-arm is out of the car is pressing the new bushings in without ruining them in the process. They are a flared bushing and that first lip catches every time unless you can somehow compress it.
check out the old twinsaabs site for a DIY A Arm bushing section. The uppers are possible to do with a home-made piston ring compressor-type thing using some tin and a hose clamp, but the lower control arm bushings are a total B_ _ _ _ because of their size and height. My dad made a funnel and drift that i use to press new ones in with great success and ease.
