Yep, it's a known problem. Do you feel better now? Probably not! There is a Saab TSB on this, it basically adds a ground on the right side to make sure there is a good ground.
I did something a little different. Noticed that the ground goes from the left side *through* the circuit board to the right side. If you unplug the left side the right side does wild and not wonderful things. So, I did a jumper from the incomming ground to the outgoing ground on the left circuit board. Basically I took the ground load that the right side was running through the left, and bypassed the left light with that load. Less load less heat more better more fun...
Yes, you can carefully remove the pins from the black connector and dress them up. I used a jewelers file, 400 or finer paper would work too. Then get into the spade connectors on the circuit board and clean them too. This is one of those times that the worse it gets the faster it gets worse... more resistance makes more heat and causes more oxidation and more resistance...
You can also get another board at a junk yard, however the problem will come back if you don't 1) clean the connector in the wireing harness (car side) and 2) look a the SAAB TSB and consider a better ground setup.
