So those of you that have been following and helping with posts may know that I sent back my new AMM as defective and got another. Let me say that the car runs AWESOME now. The engine fires right up and doesn't even think about stalling. I had mentioned with my old (old)AMM that it would stall a couple times after a cold start before it would idle by itself and then when the O2 computer started using the O2 data the idle would raise. The one I sent back did the same thing but I was able to adjust it way up and keep it from stalling. The new AMM was perfect out of the box.
Also important to note, if you remember I was trying to adjust the AMM I sent back to get the mystery wire( the one that goes to pin 22 on the LH2.2 control unit) to swing from 0 - 12 volts back and forth but could not get there. I plugged in the new AMM and it was already there baby. Back and forth, back and forth. Plus, before the computer starts taking the O2 sensor data the O2 sensor doesn't swing and when I checked it was sitting at .89 volts or RICH. Woo hoo! I have NEVER experienced that in all of the times I have tested the voltage with any of the AMMs or configurations I've tried. Once the computer started to use the data it started swinging around .5 volts.
I still have a slightly high idle which I'm working on. I'll let you know if what I do works.
Through this ordeal I also identified the only source of "unmetered" air that I have to worry about. Thats the oil filler cap. I'm hoping my new AMM will help me pass the emissions test but just in case, I made a rubber gasket to put in the cap. This will only keep air from entering through the cap not exiting. I got to thinking that it was possible, though unlikely, that air could enter there and bypass the AMM so I'm just going to cover all the bases and seal that from vacuum.
Once I have run this tank of techron treated gas out I'm going to have it tested again with normal premium gas and the same timing so I can get reading on what difference my latest changes have made. Then, if I have to, I'll try the "tricks" to get the NOx down. But I have a pretty good feeling about my chances now. My seatofthepantsometer gave me a much better reading today than I have experienced before, so we shall see what the gas analyzer says.
