do you have a welder? if so, there is a way to do it. you do have to jack the engine up, use a wood block under it to distribute the load. you will need to remove all of the right side suspension items, knuckle, shock, rotor, caliper etc. you want to get down to the bare upper a arm.
there are two bolts through the fender well into the engine compartment with a strip of metal backing inside. there is also a strip of metal between the two holes. you take the bolts out, cut the metal and bend it to allow access. the engine mounts on both sides, and maybe the front too (can't remember - it will be obvious as you do it) need to be undone. the rest is a puzzle to get done but you can do it without removing the engine or any transmission attachments. you can remove the A arm and manuver another into it's place. had to do it on a 1990 900T 3 door.
when you put it all back together you need to bend the previously cut metal back together and put a tack on it. then reapply the backing plate and bolt it up...
