I was pleased that I was able to get out my old O2 sensor and save more money by puting in part # 13942 for about $40 . I was somewhat concerned when I noticed the new part's black wire was made up of many equal strands while the old wire which I spliced it to had several equal strands , but also had one thick , apparantly braided strand . The overall thickness of the old and new wire are the same however . Could this pose any problem for the O2 signal transfer ? However , what I am even more concerned about now is that I accidently set the DVM to measure resistance and then hooked it up to the black wire connector and a ground to test O2 output before I realised my mistake . The reason for my strong concern is a memory of a post by " Fimum Fit " that said DO NOT try to test the resistance of the O2 sensor because it will damage its circuitry . I am aware that this is a standered test for the O2's heater circuit , but I don't think this is what he was referring to . Before new O2 my signal wire reading was .5v steady now it is so erratic with the new sensor that it looks nothing like the desired voltage swing and no pattern can be discerned . I really hope I did not ruin the sensor and all my hard work . Please advise . Also I've often wondered if my DVM is appropriate for this test . I know it can still give accurate readings when testing batteries , but am not sure if it is otherwise faulty or of the correct specs for the O2 test . Thank you in advance .
