There is another test that can show yet a different, and fixable, problem.
It does require that you remove the covering over the spare and get to the pump.
If you are up for it you will also need a long jumper with aligator clips on both ends, 18 gauge or so.
Remove the rear floor, 2-4 torx screws towards the seat back. See the large Silver disk on the left, rubber seal around it. Remove to see the top of the fuel pump.
There should be two connectors plugged into the pump, one black, one something else. Press the levers on the notblack connectors to allow the barb locks to open and pull that connector off.
Attach one end of your aligator jumper to that contact, you should be able to point the clip into the connector and get a good purchase.
Now is the only hard part. you need to source a +12V supply. if this was a converitible or four door you would open the courtesy light and use it. If you have opened the left area where the radio antenna is you can get it there. With a three door you can get it from the overhead light.
So, when you connect to +12v you should *immediately* hear the pump run. This bypasses all of the other possible stuff in the middle and checks the pump. Period. If the pump doesn't run now it's the pump.
IF the pump runs, try to start the car. It should run. I've driven home this way. Be sure and *disconnect* the pump when you turn off the engine.
If this is successful, what is the problem?????
Above the hood release lever there are three connectors that take wires from inside the car to the fuse block on under the hood. This includes all of circuits that get tested mentioned in the other tests. What happens is that the connection gets poor. You should be able to open your drivers door, squat on the ground, take your right hand and slide up between the hood release lever and door opening and go straight up. you should be able to feel the connectors, three in all. you can pull them off, wiggle them abunch, and put them back on. You don't need to see them, just reseat them. Only do one at a time. Do each one twice.
then reconnect the fuel pump at the back with the original connector and start. if the fuel pump doesn't come back on, it's something else.
