Sorry to hear about your misfortune.... my '86 SPG has been hit twice,
right front corner and door by a drunk running a red light and left rear wheel house T-boned by an idiot.
Both times, the repair has left something to be desired. After the front damage was fixed, I had to realign the hood myself. The driver's door was messed up and the body guy had to weld in a new door jamb - he did a good job but the ground effects on that door has never fit right since then, it's not flush to the door across the top edge ( I intend to try to remount the molding myself). But, the repaint was perfect, I'll give him that .
I had to fight w/ my insurance co. to get a new wheel and tire. The drunk was uninsured so my uninsured coverage covered the repair - my company even tried to get me to admit that the accident was 75% my fault so they wouldn't have to foot the 5K. I had a good witness who verified my fault was 0% but it was a hassle. I got a cop to come before moving my car and he arrested the drunk when he came out of a 7-11 with yet another beer in hand. Anyway, back to the body work - the window in that door is a little hinky but I can live with it. When the body guy put things back together, he didn't secure the APC box connector which led to base boost. Also, when he reconnected a major ground point in the fender well, he did it over the fresh paint which led to a dead in the water and stranded car a couple of months later, a tow and a search for the fault before I was back on the road... the mechanic sanded the ground connection area to metal which took care of it. If the G.E. plastic can be better secured, I'll be satisfied.
The left rear quarter repair is another story - had to have the wheel and axle replaced as well as major body work done. The mechanical part of the repair was perfect - can't say the same about the body work. When I first got the car back ( the work was done at a major SAAB dealer body shop), there were sanding swirls and visible bondo chunks under the paint. With muscle help from my insurance co., the body shop redid the panel but now, 12 years later, the paint is starting to let loose and there are three bondo "swells" along the fender crease. Plus, in the right light, I can still see imperfections in the surface. It wasn't prepped well enough before the paint went on. That dealership is out of biz now so there's absolutely no recourse... I'm going to have the area refinished at my expense. When the work was done on the front, a new fender and door where used - sure would have been better if the left rear had been replaced rather than banged out and filled.
My car looks great and brand new from ten feet away but when looked
at closely, there are things that bother me big time. I was unhurt both times so SAAB engineering did it's job - When the Lexus plowed into my left rear fender, it and the driver didn't fare as well. Hope you don't have any physical problems retated to the wreck. Good luck with the repair.
