With the help & knowledge you can get right here, you can ensure the job is done correctly and inexpensively. If you take the car to any local mechanic, expect to pay $1000 for a spark plug, and have them screw it up somehow. The Saab dealers will do the job right, but charge an arm & a leg for parts & service. The Saab independant mechanics are usually priced very fairly, but some of them will only supply with original Saab parts. With the knowledge of this board, even the most inept DIYer can do major repairs. Contray to popular (non-Saabers) opinion, these cars are not very difficult to work on.
Parts can be bought inexpesively through the sponsors. I first learned about this board when I needed to replace the hose from the expansion tank to the water pump, about 14" long, with a bend, about 1" in inside diameter. The dealer wanted $48, I bought from a site sponsor for $8.
Any parts that you can't get from the sponsors, you can usually find cheap on eBay, or through other members on this board. I have had the pleasure of getting many used parts FREE from other members, as well as sent many parts out free as well (Pay it forward). We kind of take care of each other here.
