This is the continuing saga of how my 'vert turned into a swimming pool and how I had to remove the carpet and padding.
I looked further into the "small" rip in the canvas just below the rear window on the driver's side, and it's not as small as I had thought. It runs from the middle of the rear window and all the way down until it meets the bottom underneath the metal trim that holds it in place above the rear spoiler. I also see that the canvas has pulled away from that same side of the window, to the point that the driver's side of the rear window is not attached to the canvas at all (it has come un-glued).
The top itself is in perfect condition except for this problem. Can the rear window and its related surrounding canvas be replaced or possibly just the surrounding canvas?
How do I detach this whole assembly as a unit (window and surrounding canvas)? I see the zipper on top and the velcro on the sides, but how does it come out at the bottom? Do I need to remove that metal trim piece at the bottom of the canvas that's on the outside of the car just above the rear spoiler?
I'm thinking that a lot of water from 9 days of rain came in at this point and not only filled the open area behind the rear seat, but also ran down behind that area and flooded the driver's side carpet since the car was parked on a decline (allowing the water to run forward). I would like to fix this situation and then test for leaks since this spot will allow water to enter the cabin when I'm spraying it with a garden hose.
