What is "normal" boost taper?

85 SPG, just picked it up a week ago. Car flies, hit's pretty crazy boost, about 3/4's red pretty easily, tons of fun, blah blah blah.
Boost situation... 1st, no boost, thank god.
2nd and 3rd, boost to about 1/3 red then falls to yellow/red boarder.
4th and 5th, boosts quickly and smoothly to 3/4's red, holds strong, to about 3400 rpm's, then falls to yellow/red boarder.
So obviously the car has been tweaked, and this is my first 900 turbo, so I don't know all the details of what it takes to achieve this sorta boost. Obviously boost cutoff is bypassed, wastegate must be tweaked, and some other stuff...
So anyway, I guess all I'm really wondering (since I'm very happy with the boost as is), is this "boost taper" as it seems to be known as, "normal" for my not quite normally boosting SPG?
