No bleeding needed when changing accumulator Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Wed, 2 Nov 2005 15:08:22 In Reply to: Re: HELP WITH ABS BRAKES ON A 91 900 SAAB, Huey K., Wed, 2 Nov 2005 07:12:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
But if the accumulator is very bad you can expect a spray of brake fluid when unscrewing the accumulator.
For some or another reason, when the accumulator have lost its internal pressure it doesn't allow the pressure from pump to bleed off when pumping the brake pedal with ignition off.
You can pump the pedal "til the cows come home" but it still will be pressure left in the system when the accumulator is removed.
With a fresh accumulator, you can pump the pedal to bleed off pressure and nothing happens (leak out) when you unbolt the acuumulator.
