Howdy all,
I've been resurrecting my '85 SPG after letting her sit for about a year.
Sometimes she won't start. When she does, she runs well except for fact that she idles between 1200 and 1500. This is with the idle screw all the way out, dashpot back and air bleed screw all the way in.
When she doesn't, there's gas flowing (I've cracked the fuel rail and also jumpered fuses 27 and 30), there's spark (helper checked while cranking, she cranks but won't start and I smell gas in the exhaust if I crank it enough.
I've checked the following:
Looked for vacuum leaks
Cleaned the throttle body
Tested the Throttle Position Sensor
Tested the AIC
Tested the NTC
Tested the coil
Tested the ignition control unit
Tested the LH control unit
Tested the AMM resistance
I think that's it.
Oftentimes, after it won't start, when I come back to the car or wait a few minutes, she starts right up and runs fine (except for the high idle).
So basically, when she doesn't start, there is both fuel and spark getting to the cylinders but she won't strt. I don't think it's a timing issue because 70% of the time she starts and runs.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Tushy
