Help - broken headlamp/assembly; electrical fritz

What a great board - I read it all the time and now need some advice! Somebody backed into my left headlight while the car was parked in front of my house, smashing the lens and pushing the assembly inward a bit. When I started the car the washer pump and the wipers ran constantly until I pulled the fuses (I thought it would look pretty silly to drive to work like that and I didn't want to burn out something).
Now I have to replace the lens and probably the assembly, and fix the electrical problem. I guess I can figure out the assembly replacement (I'll pull out my Bentley), but I'm at a loss to explain the electrical glitch - although I figure the headlamp wiper is damaged somehow and maybe shorting out the circuit. (I don't know if it's relevant, but I actually had disconnected the headlamp wipers some time ago when one of them failed and I was too cheap to replace it at the time.)
Questions: (1) what's a good source for a replacement assembly (and, unfortunately, the side light lens)? (2) what's the likely electrical problem and solution?
Thanks all!
