Other AMM tests?

I'm on my fourth rebuilt amm now, and I'm hoping for some additional enlightenment, before I spend the $$$ for a bosch.
Car: 1985 SPG
1)Intermittent problem
2)On start, loping idle, about a one second cycle to it--prolly 100-200 rpm change--enough to be really obvious.
3)When this happens, the voltage at the test plug (right fender, by PS reservoir) goes HI. Adjusting the amm has no effect.
4)When this happens, AMM voltages (+b,burnoff, and ground) are good.
5)When this happens, the car runs slightly better...not much mind you...with the AMM disconnected.
6)Car really stinks when this happens, and has a BIG hesitation--enough that you can stall it very easily if you try to give it the gas--you can s l o w l y increase RPMS till you hit about 1500-1700 rpm, and then it responds fairly normally.
Some of the things that have been replaced (in the last two years)--AMM(x4), fuel pump +prepump, NTC, coil, plugs, wires, cap+rotor.
AND then, for whatever reason, the next time it's started--in an hour, or a day, it runs just fine--voltage cycles normally, boosts to beat heck. It doesn't seem outside temperature related, or humidity. It does seem to do it more often when you are on the 'second' start of the day--but not much more often.
Any clues?
Thanks--
