My input on this particular matter is from what I've experienced myself and am looking into permanently remedying, i.e., all auto manufacturers end up cutting corners somewhere and with SAAB, they chose to cut the corner in regards to the water pump.
The impellers are manufactured from some inferior material that is prone to rust and that's even if you religiously use the proper coolant, although the lack of following this practice is more likely than not the cause of the deterioration of the pump's bearing seals as they depend on the type of coolant that you're suppose to use for lubrication (unless they're sealed).
I plan to permanently remedy this by replacing the manual/factory pump with an aftermarket, electric water pump, that is, once I find out what the volume of coolant flow is/just how much water does the pump push..., anyone know?
