More likely something else. The way the fuel injection system works is that, if the fuel injection computer doesn't get an RPM pulse signal indicating that the engine is turning, it won't let the fuel ump start.
Assuming that you have a non-turbo, the RPM pulse signal starts at the crankshaft position sensor and goes to the EZK ignition controller. From there the signal gets repeated to the fuel injection computer (ECU.)
Often, the crankshaft position sensor fails and the chain breaks down there.
One way to start the diagnostic process is to pull out one of the spark plugs and check to see if there is spark. If there isn't spark then it's very likely that the crank position sensor or the ignition module are bad.
The bad news is that the crank position sensor isn't terribly easy to replace.
This doesn't mean that the fuel pump isn't the culprit, just that the other things are more likely.
