'89 900 Turbo
warning: long post and very limited knowledge of electrical, but I have searched through the old posts and other websites and think I'm getting close to having a heated seat for the winter, hooray
I have taken the seat out and found about five broken points on the bottom part, including the yellow wire. At first I soldered all the broken points together, but I read that can create resistance so I peeled back the insulation and twisted the broken connections together and wrapped electrical tape around them (except for the yellow one which is still soldered)
There is a yellow wire and black wire coming into the seat (and a blue/black one w/a black ball at the end). From the yellow to the black the ohms read about 2.2 which I think indicates good continuity through the whole heating element grid. From the yellow wire in the seat to the black multipin connector the yellow wire also read ~2.2.
With ignition on: at the black multipin connector coming out the floor: yell/wht wire has 11.33 volts. Blue wire has 4.16v. The voltage drops to zero when the dash switch is on position 0.
The black wire(ground I think) reads 1.5 ohms (with one probe touching black wire pin and the other touching a bolt hole in the floor. Also when I plug in the connector to the seat I hear a click in the dash switch when it is set to 1,2,or 3.
I drove for a few miles and felt underneath the leather and still no warmth. Any ideas?
