It's been a very productive week for my 89 SPG! After fighting the last 2-1/2 years with idle issues, overboosting, leaks, and crapped out brakes I have finally wiped them off my list.
I replaced all for rotors and pads, and replaced the two rear calipers. The pads were so worn they were rubbing on the metal backing and caused the piston to come out so far it tore the dust boot!
Today I FINALLY fixed my high idle. Turns out the wrong connector was plugged into the AIC. There are two, two-pin connectors under the hood, both with the same coloured wires, both get 12V when the ignition is on, but only ONE! gets a signal from the ECU. Now I'm left wondering what the hell this other connector is for!
Most importantly though, I FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY!!! Fixed my boost! I swapped another set of injectors into the car and it finally holds a solid boost at the red line, and the car freely revs over 4000rpm.
Now the only things on my list are the heated seats, cruise control, and air-conditioning.
Having a properly functioning Saab Turbo is a VERY, good thing.
