shaking update: wow! a little grease...

posted a few days ago about violent shaking on acceleration 1/4 into my road trip. decided to try to make it the 300 miles on the 2nd leg, then order the parts and fix over the week. about 50 miles into the trip, shaking started again. stopped at a FLAPS, picked up some grease and jack stands, just in case. in another 20 miles, the shaking was so violent that i was afraid of doing more damage. i figured that from what i'd read on the bb (thanks!), the prob was the inner driver, and was due to the grease leaking out over time. i hoped that repacking the bearing with grease would allow me to make it home. pulled over in the middle of nowhere as i ran out of daylight, and pulled back the boot to inspect. not much grease in there, but all bearings spun freely. packed the shit out of it with synthetic grease and replaced boot. 20 minutes later, i'm back on the road, and the shaking is all but gone. drove another 250 miles, 4 hours, with no problems. unbelievable, i was so psyched. anyway, i'm pretty sure i'll be able to make it back the 1000 miles home, and change out all my front end bits in the comfort of my own home (i'm still going to swap the inner driver/axle). so thanks list, and maybe someone can benefit from this info...
