By no means am I complaining.
I got my '85 in '97 and now I love the Classic 900's. They're fun to drive, safe, fairly economical, reasonable amount of do-it-yourself repairability and maintenance and fun to drive - did I already mentioned that?
I've never driven the 9000's but I've driven the newer 900's and although their motors are more powerful and responsive, I like the weight and the size of the classics.
I got my SPG at 130,000 miles so I knew that things were on their way out. I think in the 7 years I've owned her I've put in about $2500 not counting tires, brakes, oil etc.
Last year I bought an '89 to replace my '85. I had the tranny replaced with a 12,000 mile rebuilt but a year later either first gear or the laygear is chipped. I did some mods to it, had the seals and gaskets replaced and it was putting out more than my SPG. This was going to be my ten year car but now I'm not sure of it's fate.
Saabs rock!
