First break down :-( Alternator wires?

I just had my frame rust (lower control arm attachment) repaired with a Safe-T-cap. It looks great, but when the battery and washer fluid reservoir were removed, some wires must have been knocked loose. On way home, I got the battery indicator warning light, followed by a gradual shut down of all electrical until the battery was drained about 15 minutes later. I was hoping to make it home, but missed by 13 mi. So given work in that area, what is the likely culprit to prevent alternator juice from charging battery? Just loosening the connections by messing with wires? Or is there more serious damage that could have occured with welding in that area (including under battery)?
My first breakdawn after having car (86 900c) for 5 years. Glad I had AAA (although they are still ahead).
Thanks.
Thanks
