Rear brake question. Lever not seeming to work?????? Posted by Inga [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Ok the short story is I converted my 85 to post 88+ brakes. I thought for the last week that I didn't install the lever between the seats properly. After screwing with it for some time, I pulled the wheel and used my hand on the lever and pulled it all the way over and it still wouldn’t lock the wheel up. Meaning it wasn't the cable, hand lever in the car but some thing with the caliper. So I figured!
I know a lot more about the old brakes then I do about these, I haven’t tested the other side yet, although I should. It might help to figure out this question. Will tonight.
I have emptied and refilled the whole system. Replaced the old rubber brake lines with SS. Filled the system with Super Blue and bleed them to. Brakes seem to work with my foot on the pedal, but no matter what I do I can't stop the wheel with the e-brake. Note, There is a little surface rust on the rotors, not a lot but there is some. This shouldn't, I'd think b/c the foot pedal still works ok. Is there something I'm missing??? Or are these things (or this one for now) just junk??
Parts replaced: axle, spindles, booster, Master, plus lines, the 6 rubber lines to SS. Pads, turned rotors, and painted calipers, I know it was extra.
