Thats how I bought my 91 SPG for cheap. My uncle bought the car from a guy in Austin for only $700 all because the AC fan was out (plus the guy bought a new BMW). After lots of begging, $1200 cash and a junk Eclipse GST for trade, it became mine.
KBB has the 91 SPG listed as only being worth $2700 (private)and $3900 (retail)in excellent condition with 105K on the clock. NADA has it priced at $9,000 - $12,100. The previous owner purchased it 2 years ago for $12,900 with 70K on the odometer. It still baffles me that he took a $12,200 hit on a car all because the ac fan was bad:/ This car is probably rated a 9+ out of 10.
It doesn't matter what it is "worth" though because no amount of money will make me sell it:-)
I guess price on a car depends on how bad you want it. I just wouldn't trust Kbb on a true value of a car.
