Thanks everyone for the advice yesterday when my car was frozen and wouldn't start. Today was helpful because it was close to 40F. So this afternoon, I attempted to start it again and failed. Then I started to diagnose a little more. First, checked the fuel by loosening the banjo bolt on the fuel rail, check, had fuel spraying when I cranked. Then, wanted to check the spark, and luckily had read a thread about just using an inductive timing light to check. This was too simple and easy that I would have never thought of it. It is very helpful when it's just one person with no helper. So that checked out and I had spark, with lots of fuel smell in the engine bay. So I figured that she was flooded (hoped). Pulled the plugs and they were wet, let them dry out and bingo, cranked up.
So the way I figure it, yesterday when I cranked with a weak battery, either the fuel line was frozen or it was just too weak to spark well. If it wasn't frozen then the plugs just remained too wet to fire up later until I dried them today. Or it was a combination of being frozen yesterday and flooded today.
Also, IMHO, anyone with a NA car should get a Everstart Max N1 battery, with 875 CCA and Everstart reported very well in the recent Consumer Reports. This battery fits perfectly (NA at least) and you can still use the same OEM shild/bolts to hold it down. I think it's a good buy for only $60, esp. since it has a three year total free replacement warranty.
Thanks again for all of the advice. Since then I have put some isoheet in and filled up the tank, so I shouldn't have any more problems.
