Fuel Filter Gaskits-Was I hosed ? Future reference.

My most recent adventure with my 93 900S was a fuel leak. After banging around for a solution, I happily found it was a leak in the fuel filter. I went down to my local Bosch Outlet and bought a replacement filter. However, I quickly learned the gaskits that are supplied with the filters [Bosch had none and a 3rd party outfit had 4 that looked to be good for anchoring lag bolts in a backyard deck] are good for nothing and the dealer was the only source. I went over to the local Saab people and they supplied me with 4 gaskits [2+2] that had a metal outer ring and black O-rings inside, of some soft rubber like material, probably and hopefully a non rubber substance that is resistant to the effect of hydrocarbons such as gas or oil. My question is, do they really cost about $5.00 each or $20.00+ for the set. I was looking around in the eEuro catalog and they had a gaskit for $.59 or so, but they didn't seem to be the same. Also, I fished around in the threads here and there seemed to be some discussion on reusing the gaskits, but I could not find anything directly on point there.
Thanks W. B.
